Terry Roberts

Terry is President of the ANU Indonesian Studies Association and the Coordinator of the Language Exchange Affiliate Program (LEAP). He is studying a Bachelor of Security Analysis (Asia Pacific) at ANU, majoring in Southeast Asian studies. If you are a student of Bahasa Indonesia at ANU or an Indonesian living in Canberra and want to join ANUISA or come along to a weekly conversation group, then get in touch today! Mel Sloane

Mel Sloane is the Vice President of the ANU Indonesian Studies Association. Mel is currently about to complete a Bachelor of Security Analysis (Asia-Pacific), majoring in Indonesian. She has been studying Bahasa Indonesia for 5 years, and has just come back from a month travelling across Indonesia, visiting Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Denpasar. Mel has a love of Indonesian art and enjoys translating Bahasa. She doesn’t mind helping others practise their Indonesian skills either. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to find her and ask!

Courtney McGorm

Courtney has what she likes to call a great love and what most other people would call an obsession with all things Indonesia. As Secretary of the Indonesian Studies Association it is her mission to promote Indonesian Studies at ANU as well as in the local community. Courtney is also the contact person for all information relating to Indonesia Day, that special time of year when ANU showcases the rich diversity of culture and language that makes Indonesia such an amazing place to see. If you are interested in getting involved with or need more information about Indonesia Day, Courtney is your first point of contact.

Liaison Officer

Steph Hedt

Steph is the Liaison Officer of the ANU Indonesian Studies Association. Steph has been studing Bahasa since high school and loves anything Indonesian! She is studying a bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies with a major in Bahasa, Security Studies and International Relations. Steph has completed the PIBBI (Program Intensif Bahasa & Budaya Indonesia) in-country program and more recently completed a practical assignment in West Kalimantan. If you have any questions about either of these in-country programs, please do not hesitate to contact her. If you have any comments or issues with your Indonesian classes please let Steph know and she will pass this feedback on. Ayo, mari kita belajar bersama-sama!

Jen Plaistowe

Jen is in her second year of a Bachelor of Asia Pacific Studies at ANU. As the Social Officer for the Indonesian Studies Association, Jen is tasked with organising spectacular events that bring the community together in celebration of Indonesian culture.
